A Descent of Woodpeckers
A ‘decent of woodpeckers’ is rarely enjoyed
Being always the source of grief unalloyed.
The trouble one finds with the noisy wood-pecker
Is its indecent urge to be a wood-wrecker.
With a sound like a furious tree-chopping-axe,
They closely resemble incensed lumberjacks.
If a new group noun for these birds you seek,
‘Demolition’ would surely be right on the beak.
