When starlings forgather all over the nation,
Are they typically known as a ‘confrontation’?
Or, on tranquil nights, as a ‘contemplation’?
Do they answer, instead, to a ‘congregation’?
Or even, who knows, to a ‘consternation’?
No! The word – which is genius inspiration –
Is the exquisitely-sounding ‘murmuration’!
